Our History

Since we began meeting on Saturday nights at the founding vicar's
house in Sienna Plantation in July 1999, St. Catherine's has grown and
flourished despite difficulties. With a grand opening kick-off on Palm Sunday
2000 at our first public worship location in a store front at 3825 Cartwright
Rd, St. Catherine of Sienna Episcopal Church was officially underway. Sadly the
founding vicar, the Rev. Vincent Uher, suffered a stroke in October 2000 and
retired from the active ministry.

The worship and ministry of St. Catherine's continued due to the faithfulness of
the people and the interim ministry of the Rev. Carl Choate. In June 2001, our
current vicar, the Rev. Stacey Fussell, came to St. Catherine's and we set our
sights on increasing and expanding our ministry.

On Palm Sunday 2005, we broke ground on the first building in our master planned
site on Sienna Parkway.

Our first building was completed in early August 2006 and we moved to our
permanent home at 4747 Sienna Parkway. We hosted a Grand Opening celebration on
August 20, 2006, and our official dedication by the Rt. Rev. Don Wimberly,
Bishop of Texas, on September 27, 2006.

Now that we're established as the first church in Sienna Plantation, we're
working hard to faithfully live out our call to be the spiritual heart of our
community
